BikeLab at the MMBA Expo!

What an amazing time last weekend! I can’t thank all my volunteer’s enough, what an awesome group of riders and diggers from all over the state… BMX’ers, Freeriders and XC trail riders all digging in Harmony, Ahhhh, almost like world peace… anyway, it was beautiful… except the wafting reminder that we were indeed in a livestock arena with a pigshow going on… Mmmm how can something smell that bad and still make bacon that tastes so good… I digress.
Some self proclaimed ‘city-boys’ were a bit overwhelmed with the parfume de’pig, those of us who’ve done this gig before took it in stride!
Oh yeah the pumptrack! Even though we did try to abide by the pumptrack bible “Pumptrack Nation” and the maxim ‘measure twice, dig once’ we still managed to build it too small on our first shot, so we kept our big berm, which was awesome! and expanded the whole track to three times its original size, and incorporated a humpback tranny in the center. Meanwhile while we were digging the pumptrack some local bmx’ers and Copper Ridge Rider Assoc. regulars showed up and set to work on the dirtjumps which while looking huge where extremely ride-able and enjoyable by even the least skilled riders (yours truly!) and by Sunday everybody was sessioning these wonderful mounds of madness. and our BMX crew returned on Sunday to throw down some mad barspins, flips and tailwhips for the ohhs and ahhs of the assembled kiddos and jaded mountain bikers alike.
The Expo had a wonderful turnout and everybody was smiles until it was time to tear all our hardwork down but alas that is the gig at the Expo, now its time to build a pumptrack in the backyard!!!
